2005 CA-Dreamin

It took seven years, but I finally made it back to a California Dreamin' convention!  This was at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, and they treated us all just wonderfully.

THURSDAY AFTERNOON--I met up with Donna in Walnut Creek (or Concord; one of those cities anyway). Went to her house to transform, and then off to my first visit to a nail salon!  (I had my nails done in 1997 and 1998, but always in a private location.

THURSDAY EVENING--the reception, and meeting my new friend Francine on her first ever night out!

The reception included an open bar (!) and lots of great nibbles. That turned out to be plenty of food for dinner.

And here's my new friend Donna!  (Yes, a second Donna. She actually took this photo after the CA Dreamin' event and sent it to me. How did I miss getting a nice picture that weekend?  With those great black patent boots she was wearing...)

FRIDAY MORNING--For years, I've wanted to do a workshop for the TG community on ``Working the Web;" that is, making your own Website.  At this conference that finally happened!  I'd been building up to this for weeks; getting my presentation down and (of course) putting my ``professorial" outfit together.  Here are a few of the photos Donna took of my session:

Also Friday morning, I attended a session with Larry Zellers, hair replacement specialist.  Here he is with Megan from Sacramento, showing some hair and makeup secrets:

FRIDAY EVENING a whole group of us went to dinner at Spencer's, the high-end steakhouse in the hotel.  There's Michele, Ronni, and CA Dreamin' organizer Laura Marlowe. (My wife Kiki, who arrived Friday afternoon, took this photo.  You won't see her in these pictures; we're not Out enough to be able to do that.)

SATURDAY was a full day of attending workshops.  And in the afternoon, Kiki and I, along with Donna and Julie Freeman, hosted the Couples seminar. Here are Donna, Julie and I afterwards:

And finally, SATURDAY NIGHT for the big final banquet and party!  I only wore two outfits (I'd planned for at least three), and we all had a great time before, over and after dinner.

Here I am with Donna and Veronica in the first dress of the evening:

The band was Lipstick Conspiracy, a popular TG band in the Bay Area!

...and by then I'd changed into this short sequin dress, with and without my silver sequin ``referee" jacket.

That's all for now!  I'm already looking forward to next year.
